SIGNING CEREMONY – BETWEEN ABA & IBA

On 28 Nov 2016, a signing ceremony was held in India, Mumbai at IBA’s office, the Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) and India Banks’ Association (IBA) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The ceremony was attended by ABA Executive Director Mr. Najibullah Amiri, Mr.Lufullhaq Noor Paserly CEO AIBF. From IBA, Mr. K. Unnikrishnan Dy/Acting CEO, Mrs. Sangeeta Shenwai vice President Mr.Shrikant Senior legal Executive and other senior officials of IBA.
Mr.Najibullah Amiri, in his opening speech stated “It is a great honor for me to be here for signing ceremony for improvement joint cooperation between the two associations. He briefly introduced the ABA and added “ABA was established in September 2004, representing the interests of the banking sector and striving for a strong, healthy and competitive banking industry in Afghanistan. ABA plays a key role in developing a sound banking and financial sector that will contribute immensely to the economic growth of the country. Currently all 15 banks are members of the Association. Through singing this MOU, we will be able to contribute effectively toward promoting international best practices, regional collaboration, capacity building and transformation of knowledge in the financial and banking sector and many more. Therefore on behalf of ABA, we would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone whose dedication and efforts have contributed to the finalization of this MOU.
Later on, Mr. K. Unnikrishnan Dy and Acting CEO of Indian Banks’ Association (IBA), stated “We are delighted to sign this MOU with the Afghanistan Banks Association and assure to extend all our possible support toward ABA and Afghan Banking Industry. He added that IBA is a well-established institution having matured organizational capacity to represent the member banks at all forums .IBA was formed on September 26, 1946 with 22 members. As now the total Membership of the Association is 237, which aims at the promotion and development of banking in India and is helping to develop banking industry”
At the end of the event the MOU between ABA and IBA was signed between Mr. Najibullah Amiri CEO of ABA and deputy CEO/Acting CEO of IBA
