ABA Hosted the PRMIA First Event

Afghanistan Banks Association (ABA) hosted the AIBF-PRMIA First Event on Asset Liability Management (ALM) on December 13, 2017.
The objective of the Event was to promote awareness on Asset Liability management and highlight its role in the banking sector.

PRMIA was established in 2002 by a volunteer group of risk industry professionals, its mission is to provide an open forum for the development and promotion of the risk profession. To accomplish this mission, PRMIA objectives are:
• To be a leader of industry opinion and a proponent for the risk management profession
• Drive the integration of practice and theory and certify the credentials of professional risk managers
• Connect practitioners, researchers, students and others interested in the field of risk management
• Be global in focus, promoting cross-cultural ethical standards, serving emerging as well as more developed markets
• Work with other professional associations in furtherance of the PRMIA mission
The event was attended by Mr. Qaism Rahimi Second Deputy Governor DAB, DG Risk Management DAB , representatives from ministry of Commerce and Industries, the ministry of Rural Rehabilitation, insurance companies, Afghanistan Payment System (APS), Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), media, Bank CEOs/Senior Executives and Microfinance institutions (MFIs).
Mr. Najibullah Amiri Executive Director ABA/Regional Director PRMIA welcomed the participants and delivered speech on importance of risk management profession, types of risk in the banking sector and linkage of Afghanistan to PRMIA. He added that, by growing of the businesses different types of risk emerged in parallel, so to mitigate or control the risk, needs for professional knowledge high skills arising. Banks should do their best to comply with international best practices for success of their business.
Subsequently, Mr. Lutfullhaq Noor Paserly Executive Director-AIBF/Regional Director PRMIA delivered a presentation on AIBF plans, achievements and PRMIA background.
Afterward, H.E. Second Deputy presented speech on Risk Management history in Afghanistan and DAB willingness/efforts for improvement of the risk management in the banking sector. H.E. appreciated ABA –AIBF efforts for forming of PRMIA local chapter in Afghanistan. H.E. further added that, we are optimist for improvement of the professionalism in the banking sector, as well as younger experts.
At the end, an inclusive presentation was delivered by Mr. Basit Partner of MGI on asset liability management with analytical calculations and practical examples.
