ABA Held Credit Standing Committee Meeting to address Banks Credit Concerns

ABA Conducted Credit Standing Committee meeting on July 17, 2019, to discuss mainly on Bank Guarantees (Bid Bank Guarantee, Performance Bank Guarantee and Advance Payment Bank Guarantees) uniformed formats which were introduced by Da Afghanistan Bank (Central Bank) to be applied by all banks.
The meeting was attended by Banks Credit Chiefs/ Officials and ABA management. Mr. Najibullah Amiri ABA Executive Director chaired the meeting. At the beginning, he updated member banks on ABA-Credit Committee tasks and its role in addressing challenges of banks credit in Afghanistan. Further, Mr. Amiri added, currently, ABA has got access to different government and non-government high forums, i.e Executive Office, PriSec Committees, ICC etc, where through these platforms, ABA can strongly raise problems of member banks. So, through this committee we call upon member banks if they have any concern on the subject matter can share with ABA.
In order to keep Credit Committee proactive, with positive view of members, Mr. Amiri appointed Mr. Saeedullah CCO of Azizi Bank as Chairperson of the committee and advised him to contribute for empowerment of committee performance and outputs. Besides, an ad hoc Committee was also formed by ABA Executive Director to work on finalization of the Appraisal Proposal to be ready for submission to MISFA. By acceptance of the proposal, ABA will be able to establish a unit under ABA, enlist property evaluation companies, enhance their capacity, develop certain criteria and provide certification for qualified Appraisal companies. The banking sector and financial sector in general will be benefited of this project. Presently, there is no entity to work in development of evaluation profession in the country.
Banks Guarantees format's specification, Credit Guarantee, National Priority program costing and Credit related problems were discussed in details by Mr. Edrees Alimy ABA Senior Research and Communication Officer and banks officials, where the decisions were noted by noted Mr. Alimy for future follow up and action.
